That would be correct. I've spent much time convincing that bearing to give it up and come out of that damn hole!

I noticed that some of the threaded puller type had hit the market.
Mine is an SK I've had for years.
I can see where the jaws of the Alltrade one failed you.
So... is it in yet?

I have yet to extract the pilot bearing. I am going to stop and pickup a slide hammer type and see if that will do the job. If it doesn't I guess I will trying and get a skinny blade for my sawsall and try that or go back to the 3 dollar a pop dremel bits.

Ah, the sweet look of success. Do you have the Helms on the car for the torques as we reinstall? Most is "make it good and snug" but the flywheel & clutch pressure plate need to be correctly torqued.

Um, I'd have to look. I'm not really sure. I'll do some research tomorrow at work.

Pssssh. Star pattern it in two stages and it'll be fine.
PS, you have 48 hours.

I know the pattern, I need the torque numbers on the bolts. Flywheel and clutch pressure plate. I'm pretty sure that I gave him the Helms books with the car. Just a matter of finding them and getting the torque settings

Flywheel installation:
I recommend using new bolts for this. Install the flywheel bolts using a star pattern, and
then double-check them. Using the locator hole, orient the new one like the factory
flywheel.
Flywheel torque sequence in star pattern:
Step 1 20 Nm 15 lb ft
Step 2 50 Nm 37 lb ft
Step 3 100 Nm 74 lb ft
Pressure plate torque sequence in star pattern:
Step 1 10 Nm 7 lb ft
Step 2 25 Nm 18 lb ft
Step 3 40 Nm 30 lb ft
Step 4 70 Nm 52 lb ft
Place the bell housing back on and tighten in a star pattern to 50 Nm (37 lb ft)

That's all we need. The bolts aren't torque to yield, so you can reuse them quite often. No need for new bolts unless you booger up the threads or the bolt heads.

The clutch included new bolts, though I still have the old ones if necessary.

If you have them and want to use them, fine. Usually you just use the old ones unless...

Annnnd we're done. Started at about 10:30 and got done at about 3:30. Car moves and shifts like butter. A bit loud with the open exhaust tho. . Gears that I know work R 1 2 3 4. Didn't make it to 5 or 6 yet but I'm guessing they will be as smooth as the rest. thanks to JMD for holding my hand through the whole ordeal. I owe you some beers
T56 removed, rebuilt, reinstalled
Spec clutch and flywheel removed
LS7 clutch and flywheel installed
Whew

I was impressed that the tranny worked! Good job son!
Installer humor...
Put the kid under the car for the clutch bleed. After 3 or 4 clutch depressions...
"Holy shit! We've got a leak coming out of the bottom of the tranny!!!!"
What kind of fluid?
"Clutch juice...."
Well, we are purging the line of air and that will cause clutch juice to flow out and it has to come out somewhere.
That has to be the dirtiest clutch install I've ever done in my entire life! I thought I had worked 24 hours in a coal mine! I thought I was a brotha! It took 2 showers with "Dawn" dish washing soap to get all of that shit off my old, tired, and very sore body.
Supper was nice!
NO! I'm not doing that again!

Yea I freaked a bit on the fluid. I just remember reading that you aren't supposed to get anything on the clutch resembling oil or grease and here we had hydraulic fluid coming from where I just put $450.

I saw some drips of trans fluid offthe rear of the transmission today. . I am pretty pissed. I replaced all the seals and they locked in fine. I didn't see any drip when we filled it. This is the first I've seen any drips today.

I'm thinking maybe the reverse lockout came loose since it's not disengaging. It was loose when I took the trans to the shed to rebuild it.

Good luck with stopping it. I hope it is an easy fix and can be done on the car.

I feel better. The drain plug wasn't tightened completely and had a small drip.
I also tested the reverse lockout today. It appears to be getting power, but must not be getting a signal from the PCM. I jumped it with the connector I bought right to the battery and ground and I could hear it click and I was able to get to reverse easily.
