Last week this 13.3K mile Ferrari F40 was brought to me to prepare for the upcoming F40 owners gathering in Monterrey, CA at the end of the first week in August. Having just been washed in the previous 2 days, a light ONR wipedown was done before surface inspection.
A closer look revealed various stress cracks in the intake vents of the hood areas along with some nicks, light scratches, marring and other blemishes on the body panels.
After some product combination testing, I used a LC 5.5" PFW buffing pad and Megs M105 with a Shurhold DA polisher. This gave me the cutting power the remove the vast majority of blemishes quickly.
Once satisfied with the surface compounding, I switched to the gray 6.5" LC finishing pad and worked Megs M205 polish to remove any marring caused by the M105/purple combo.
Wheel polishing by hand using Luster Lace polishing ribbon:
Once all of the machine polishing was completed, we opened the both clam shells to remove any compound or polishing residue as well as lingering road dust/film.
A colleague assisting for the morning emerges from a seatless cockpit after some interior cleaning.
Yesterday I applied our polymer sealant to all of the smaller panel painted surfaces while using the DA to spread across the larger flat sections. 30 minutes later, all residue removed very easily with microfiber polishing towels. Earlier today, I topped the sealant with a carnauba based creme by hand for a little more depth.
What was the customers reaction to the transformation? that car is simply beautiful.

The owner was pretty pleased how the F40 turned out. He had me do these 2 cars after the F40.
